This stamp was released commemorating the death centenary of Captain John Macarthur, founder of Australian sheep farming. The design was created by superimposing a photo of a champion ram on a photo taken of the Blue Mountains from Macarthur's homestead site. In the first printing of the 2d Red, the shading in the back ground hills is lighter than the second printing.
