Winter Fur and Feathers. Pictorial Post & Go Labels
- self-adhesive pictorial labels dispensed by self-service machines in selected British postal outlets, Post Offices, and certain Museums
- machines would issue the denomination (label for a specific postal rate) requested by customer, and take payment, as single design or as strips of four designs. Machine prints the denomination, and
source doding details automatically, by thermography
- a philatelic set of four Winter Fur and Feathers designs was also available from philatelic outlets
in a Pack; these labels had denomination and machine source coding (C002) preprinted in black
Post & Go Labels (mint)
† ~ mountain hare (in its white, winter coat)
† ~ red fox
† ~ redwing, in tree with berries

- images are of the philatelic release. The '2nd' labels have repeating ‘wavy line’ background inscription ‘2ND CLASS’ in blue, an innovation from this issue; The '1st' labels have repeating 'wavy line' background 'ROYAL MAIL' in grey-blue
