Nuno Alvares Pereira also known as the Santo Condestável, Beato Nuno de Santa Maria, or simply Nun 'Alvares was a Portuguese noble warrior of the fourteenth century who played a key role in the crisis of 1383-1385, in which Portugal played their independence from Castile.
