Thessaloniki (Greek: Θεσσαλονίκη, AKA Thessalonica or Salonica) is the second-largest city in Greece and the capital of Greek Macedonia. It is a major seaport on the northwestern Aegean Sea. City population 322,240 (2011). After the Second Balkan War, Thessaloniki and the rest of the Greek portion of Macedonia were officially annexed to Greece by the Treaty of Bucharest in 1913.
